Students and staff at UCT have access to a wealth of online training resources. Online learning gives you freedom to progress at your own pace, wherever you have access to the internet.
Whether you want to learn new skills or strengthen your research specialisation, there is a world of academic content available to you.
The Office for Postgraduate Studies
The Office for Postgraduate Studies serves as a link to various student support services. It makes available academic development programmes, postgraduate workshops and courses for all registered UCT postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
To view the calendar of events, click here. Students may also approach the office directly for assistance and support by emailing: email@example.com.
Continuing Education Unit (CEU) at the Faculty of Health Sciences
The CEU facilitates short courses, seminars and workshops offered by the various departments in the UCT Faculty of Health Sciences for the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) of healthcare professionals.
Details on the courses offered are available on the CEU website here. Students can also join the unit’s mailing list by sending their name and email address to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs)
Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) lower the barriers to education. They have no entry requirements and can be done by anyone, anywhere who has access to the internet.
There are many MOOC platforms. These free courses are not credit-bearing, formal degree courses, but some offer certificates of participation or attainment. Some platforms charge a fee for certificates.
Since 2015 UCT has partnered with two MOOCs: US-based Coursera and UK-based Future Learn. Through these partnerships UCT has specially developed numerous exceptional courses and specialisations.
UCT has developed a number of paid-for short courses available through the online learning platform Getsmarter, a brand of 2U.
Through this partnership, UCT’s expertise and career-focused curricula are available to a global audience.
